Video-Assisted Global Positioning in Terrain Navigation: Hough Transform Solution

چکیده

We present a rigorous geometric analysis of the computation of the global position of an airborne video camera using aerial images of known landmarks. This has also been known as the perspective-n-point (PnP) problem. Based on the analysis, a robust Hough transform-like method, facilitated by a class of CORDIC-structured computations, to nd the solution for the problem, is shown feasible within the framework of terrain navigation. It empowers aerial surveillance systems to navigate e ectively when the global position and inertial navigation sensors become faulty, inaccurate, or dysfunctional.
